Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Elastic Engineer to support the enhancement, maintenance, and sustainment of an Elastic, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) environment within a data analytics team. This role focuses on data ingestion, platform configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, and visualization while ensuring the ELK stack remains operational and optimized.
The Elastic Engineer applies hands-on expertise in Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, scripting, and system integration to support enterprise data needs and platform capabilities in a distributed team environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Build data pipelines to ingest external datasets into Elastic products.
• Design, build, deploy, maintain, and enhance the Elastic Logstash Kibana (ELK) platform.
• Install and configure ELK.
• Use Elasticsearch indices, Elasticsearch APIs, Kibana dashboards, Logstash, and Beats.
• Use or create ELK plug-ins, including authentication and authorization plug-ins.
• Integrate ELK with enterprise tools and APIs for authentication and authorization.
• Design and implement complex development use cases using programming languages such as Python, Groovy, and Bash.
• Utilize Elastic Search cluster monitoring tools.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret clearance; must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance and DHS Suitability.
• 6+ years of directly relevant software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience as an Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) administrator or equivalent role.
• 2+ years of experience with Elasticsearch Domain Specific Language (DSL).
• 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes architecture.
• Strong knowledge of the ELK stack.
• Knowledge of scripting languages including JavaScript, Python, and Bash.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Desired Certifications
• CISSP
• SCRUM Master
• Elastic certification (Elastic Certified Engineer, Elastic Certified Analyst, or Elastic Certified Observable Engineer).
• Kubernetes certifications (KCNA, KCSA, CKAD, CKA, or CKS).
