Linux Systems Administrator
Program Description:
This program supports both mission and enterprise services for a rapidly expanding operational environment. The mission footprint at this location continues to grow and requires hands-on IT engineering support focused on tooling, tool integration, and direct mission enablement.
The environment is Linux-heavy and highly operational, requiring strong problem-solving skills, system integration experience, and frequent communication with customers and cross-functional technical teams.
This role supports over 3,500 servers and is responsible for systems integration, virtualization, storage, and mission-focused engineering in a live operational setting.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide upgrades and lifecycle management for virtual machines and supporting infrastructure
Integrate new technologies into an existing large-scale server environment
Perform systems integration and mission-focused engineering in an operational environment
Administer and support Linux systems, primarily RHEL 7/8, including file systems, packaging, COTS integration, and command-line operations
Install, configure, migrate, and support EMC storage solutions, including SAN environments (EMC, NetApp, IBM)
Create, maintain, migrate, and upgrade VMware environments (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere)
Support and evolve private cloud infrastructure, with future consideration of Government Cloud solutions
Deliver Operations, Maintenance, and Support (O&MS) for critical mission systems and services
Contribute to architectural design and implementation of new and existing virtual/cloud products and services
Provide operational support using ITIL and Agile methodologies
Interface directly with end customers to ensure service continuity and customer satisfaction
