Sr. Systems Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. This role focuses on enterprise storage and virtualization infrastructure, specifically leveraging Dell PowerFlex and VMware technologies in a classified environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable storage and virtualized platforms supporting mission-critical DoD operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineer, configure, and maintain Dell PowerFlex software-defined storage environments.
• Administer VMware virtualization platforms including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Design and implement highly available and scalable storage and compute solutions.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal infrastructure operations.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of storage and virtualization components.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and conduct root cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, RMF processes, and DISA STIGs.
• Maintain detailed system documentation including architecture diagrams and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, and application teams to support enterprise mission objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community environments.
• Hands-on experience with Dell PowerFlex storage solutions.
• Strong experience administering VMware virtualization environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage architectures, SAN/NAS concepts, and software-defined storage.
• Ability to work onsite at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification.
• Dell EMC Proven Professional certification.
• Experience with automation or scripting (PowerShell, Python) to support infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with high-availability, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.

Work Environment:

This position supports mission-critical systems within a classified DTRA environment at Fort Belvoir. The selected candidate must be comfortable working in a highly secure, compliance-driven setting supporting national security operations.
