Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Motion Controls business engineering team. The senior electrical engineer will design, develop, and validate electromechanical systems for aerospace and defense applications, collaborating across disciplines and leveraging hands-on experience to deliver reliable, high-performance products.
What You Will Do
• Design, simulate, and validate electrical circuits and systems for motor control applications.
• Design and develop switching power supplies and converter technologies
• Perform engineering work for new products to ensure specification, quality standards, and functional objectives are met. This includes researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, systems, and products
• Function as an integral part of a larger electrical engineering design team
• Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines (Project, Systems, Mechanical, and Software), Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to develop an integrated execution plan to satisfy customer requirements
• Resolve technical problems to improve reliability, floor yield, scrap, and performance metrics on existing products in production
• Create engineering documentation for existing and new products
• Adhere to defined electrical engineering processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, proactively identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications You Must Have
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
• Hands-on experience in aerospace product development, including design and integration of electrical or electromechanical systems
• Experience designing electrical systems for motor control applications, including brushless DC (BLDC) motors
• Expertise in PCB design software, including Mentor Graphics, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or Altium Designer with Mentor Graphics strongly preferred.
• Experience with Siemens HyperLynx simulation and analysis software is a plus
• Experience with SPICE Simulation software
• Experience with EMI/EMC test plans, strategies, and procedures in accordance with MIL-STD-461 and related industry standards
• Familiarity with environmental qualification standards, specifically MIL-STD-810 and RTCA/DO-160, for aerospace electronic systems
• Understanding of RTCA/DO-254 requirements for the development of airborne electronic hardware
• Utilize test equipment—including oscilloscopes, function generators, and other instrumentation—to support development, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical systems.
