a.i. solutions is seeking an experienced engineer to provide quality and mission assurance support for the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Ground-based Midcourse Defense Program Quality Office (GMQ). The candidate shall support the implementation of MDA quality and mission assurance requirements by providing subject matter expertise for the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks associated with various aspects of the design, development, manufacturing, fielding and operation of MDA systems. In support of QS the Contractor, the candidate shall provide support from MDA facility on Redstone Office. The successful candidate will be able to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise across the program acquisition life cycle in quality, mission assurance and manufacturing to the government for assigned MDA programs, such as Ground-Based Midcourse defense weapon system, Next Generation Interceptor (NGI), and associated sensors

Implement MDA quality and mission assurance requirements by providing subject matter expertise for the identification, evaluation and mitigation of risks associated with various aspects of the design, development, manufacturing, fielding and operation of MDA systems

The QS governing document to be implemented is the MDA Assurance Provisions (MAP). This document is a standardized set of 14 QSMA provisions, requirements, and processes that apply to mission and safety critical items. The MAP gives MDA the methodology to measure, confirm, and validate mission success through collection and analysis of metrics, risk assessment, technical evaluations, independent assessment, reviews, conducting tests, and promoting continuous process improvement to reduce cost, improve productivity, and institute QSMA.

Assist with review and assessment of hardware and software compliance with quality and related mission assurance requirements, including support of failure investigations, failure review boards, evaluations, audits, and assessments. Activities include determining root cause of failures of MDA hardware. 

Provide technical and data management expertise for quality and mission assurance boards, working groups, and reviews to include (but not limited to) technical and mission reviews, pedigree reviews, first article inspections, and risk working groups. 

Prepare draft documents, briefs, presentations, and actions items responses, which may include information papers.

Provide weekly status reports on activities and issues of concern.

Travel periodically, approximately once per quarter

Position is located in Huntsville, Alabama with expectation to work onsite one or two days a week.  This may change in the future as MDA employees are recalled to work in the building more often.  Otherwise telework from home is authorized when not required to be onsite.

This position will carry over to the newly announced 5-year MDA MAPSS contract.



Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Professional engineering from a school of engineering Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accredited as professional engineering curriculum.

Minimum of 15 years of experience in a related field.

Experience in Quality and in implementing quality practices and quality oversight.

Experience in assisting in the formulation of opinions, decisions for quality and mission assurance practices.

Experience in assessing advanced systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system integration.

Security Clearance requirements: Secret or the ability to obtain prior to start.
