Role Overview
The DevOps Test Engineer is responsible for validating, testing, and hardening the GovCon Enclave platform by building enclaves, executing automated and manual test workflows, and ensuring that automation changes produce consistent, repeatable, and compliant outcomes across all customer environments. This role directly reduces platform risk, accelerates feature rollout, and ensures that all enclaves remain aligned on supported configurations, versions, and security controls.

Key Responsibilities
- Enclave Build & Validation
- Build GovCon Enclaves from the automation framework in development and staging environments
- Validate enclave builds for:
- Correct service configuration
- Version alignment (containers, OS packages, platform components)
- Expected security and access behavior
- Reproduce and troubleshoot build or upgrade failures
- Automation Testing & Regression Coverage
- Execute and validate Ansible playbooks used for:
- New enclave builds
- Feature rollouts
- Platform-wide updates and standardization
- Develop automated validation checks to confirm:
- Successful feature deployment
- Idempotency of playbooks
- No regressions in existing enclave behavior
- Execute and validate Ansible playbooks used for:
- Feature Rollout Validation
- Test new features prior to production rollout, including:
- User-facing features (e.g., self-service password reset)
- Authentication and identity-related workflows
- Infrastructure and platform changes
- Validate features both:
- Manually (functional testing)
- Via automated deployment and verification paths
- Test new features prior to production rollout, including:
- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Investigate automation failures, configuration drift, or unexpected behavior
- Work closely with senior platform engineers to:
- Isolate root causes
- Propose fixes or automation improvements
- Validate resolutions before production deployment
- Platform Standardization Support
- Assist in bringing all customer enclaves to a consistent baseline:
- Container versions
- OS and platform configurations
- Supported architecture patterns
- Validate upgrade paths and document known risks or edge cases

Qualifications
Required:
- Strong Linux systems experience (Rocky Linux / RHEL-family preferred)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories)
- Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Bash and basic Python scripting
- Experience troubleshooting distributed systems or infrastructure automation
- Familiarity with:
- CI/CD concepts
- Configuration management and idempotent automation
- Comfortable working in security-sensitive environments with structured procedures
Preferred:
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments (CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, etc.)
- Exposure to identity systems (SSO, authentication proxies, password workflows)
- Experience building or testing infrastructure platforms, not just applications
- Prior work in GovCon, defense, or federal contracting environments

- Clear communication -you document findings, troubleshoot systematically, and collaborate effectively with senior engineers
