We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Systems Engineer or Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to serve as a Field Service Representative on a critical defense program. This position is contingent upon the successful capture of the program award, securing customer funding, and meeting final clearance requirements prior to the start date. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, and leadership, complementing our commitment to delivering top-tier support to our clients. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems support team in San Antonio, TX.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $113,900.00 - $170,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Essential Duties:
- Working as part of a team to design, build and maintain a large-scale, high-security new program focused on consolidating defensive cyber operations, leveraging automation, and meeting stringent DoD cyber-maturity standards.
- Helping to develop modular hardware, edge-computing capabilities, and automated software deployment to enhance cyber situational awareness, particularly for tactical operations.
- Deploy, install, configure, harden, and integrate monitoring and analytics platforms, such (e.g., Splunk Enterprise Security, Elastic Stack, and Azure Sentinel) FedRAMP High or DoD-approved cloud environments.
- Utilize centralized logging solutions (e.g. ELK stack) along with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus and Grafana); monitor message queues and services to ensure optimal operations and identify any bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain automated playbooks in Python, PowerShell, or Ansible for threat containment, remediation, and reporting.
- Serve as a principal liaison between our team and the customer, providing expert technical guidance and support for cyber systems on the defense program.
- Deploy and troubleshoot advanced networking solutions, ensuring high-level security and optimal performance.
- Work on projects applying agile methodologies to enhance cybersecurity capabilities for embedded systems.
- Support risk assessments and ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative cloud-based solutions, maintaining strong cybersecurity protocols.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations to stakeholders and customers.

Basic Qualifications for Cyber Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical fields; will consider 6 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, etc.).
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating defensive cyber solutions in a DoD, federal, or large-scale enterprise environment.
- Experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms (Splunk, Elastic, Azure Sentinel, Demisto/IR)
- Understanding of the architecture, maintenance, and administration of Linux servers
- Experience with scripting/automation languages - Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible
Basic Qualifications for Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 1 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical fields; will consider 9 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, etc.).
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating defensive cyber solutions in a DoD, federal, or large-scale enterprise environment.
