Description

We are currently seeking a candidate to provide administrative and field support in the development & management of a Government customer's (located on Redstone Arsenal) all-encompassing Safety Program Compliance, which includes, but is not limited to Transportation, Explosive, Environmental, Fire, Radiation Safety, and Emergency Management support.

If you have a current secret clearance, this is an opportunity to be upgraded to a TS/SCI with Polygraph.

This position will be responsible for the following:
  • Conduct initial and follow up workplace inspections (safety program audits), and submit required findings reports.
  • Conduct safety related training for workforce and provide unique environmental and radiation safety compliance inspections of laboratory equipment.
  • Serve as Government customer's Safety representative at supporting agency meetings on Redstone Arsenal.
  • Ensure equipment periodic surveys/inspections are completed and documented.
  • Report & investigate all accidents/injuries/occupational illnesses.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis on Government customer's operations in accordance with DoD regulations.
  • Recommend & approve personal protective equipment (PPE) selected for hazardous operations.
  • Complete career field training with reputable Safety organizations (i.e. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Safety Council (NSC), etc.) to ensure education remains current and applicable to job duties.
  • Coordinate with Redstone Arsenal environmental safety inspections as well as conduct compliance measures and inspections of all the Government customer's facilities at Redstone Arsenal.
  • Ensure Government customer's transportation safety procedures are developed, updated as needed, and reviewed periodically in accordance with (IAW) with applicable state/federal transportation safety requirements.
  • Work with Government customer's Explosive Ordinance Exploitation (EOE) Team & Redstone Arsenal Explosive Safety agency to ensure compliance with all DoD Explosive Safety Regulations.
  • Coordinate and serve on the Government customer's Radiation Safety Committee as the alternate Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • Support Government customer's Fire Safety program through procedural update/development. Coordinate and perform fire safety inspections with Redstone Arsenal Fire Inspector's office.
  • Support Government customer's Emergency Management Program through policy update/development. Develop/Lead emergency operations exercises.

Qualifications
  • Current Secret Clearance is required and candidates without this cannot be considered.
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Education with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: Safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology is required.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with SCI and pass a counterintelligence polygraph within 2 years of hire date.

Desired:
  • Preferred Professional Certifications/Designations: Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), Master of Public Health (MPH), or related experience in tracking maintenance records and calibration results to ensure accountability and mission readiness with no delay in responding to Government requests.
  • Experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
    • Work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, and occupational health nurse.
    • Managing safety or occupational health program elements.
    • Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements.
    • Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards.
    • Developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.
    • Analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards.
    • Designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards.
    • Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards.
    • Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects.
    • Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management.
