CNC Machinist

Program Description:

This program is a 70-year partnership with the U.S. Navy to develop, produce, and sustain submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). It constitutes the most survivable leg of the U.S. nuclear triad, providing a stealthy, "at-sea" deterrent
Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Develop and write CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines based on engineering drawings and specifications.
• Analyze engineering documents to define part configurations and determine machining sequences.
• Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and strategies aligned with machine tool capabilities and material requirements.
• Optimize program routines for best-in-class efficiency and precision.
• Test, update, and refine existing programs in response to engineering changes or improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and solve machining challenges.
• Drive improvements in tooling, fixtures, processes, and workflows to enhance throughput and quality.
Required Skills:

Understanding and experience with CNC machining processes.
Siemens NX experience
Ability to develop and write CNC programs for 5-axis machines based on engineering drawings and specifications.
Desired Skills:

Experience with Siemens NX, Mastercam, or NCL.
Experience with Vericut (a program that supports NX)
Experience with Mazak and Siemens controllers.
Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical test methodologies and related equipment.
Background in tooling or fixturing design.
Experience developing and deploying new tools, processes, or methods.
Demonstrated ability to program 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC equipment.
