Loads and Dynamics Engineer
Program Description:
The NGI program is a cutting-edge initiative aimed at advancing missile defense capabilities. It focuses on developing next-generation interceptors capable of countering evolving threats from hostile adversaries. Led by a collaborative effort between government agencies and defense contractors, the NGI program aims to enhance the reliability, speed, and precision of intercepting incoming threats. With a focus on innovation and adaptability, the NGI program is poised to strengthen national security and protect against emerging missile threats.
Day to Day:
Perform structural dynamic analyses for spacecraft flight hardware
Produce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes that simulate mechanical loading conditions, dynamic environments (shock and vibration), and mechanism motions
Perform loads development (primary/secondary structure and component level), shock and vibration environments determination, component and system level testing, and data evaluation
Document analysis results in formal reports and presentations that are clear, adequately detailed, and timely
Define and integrate requirements into the system baseline
Prepare test plans/requirements for: static, separation dynamics, vibration, modal, and shock tests. Analyze and document the results in post-test reports
Present analysis and test results at program reviews such as Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, Engineering Review Boards, and Test Readiness Reviews
Required Skills:
Extensive experience with Nastran and MATLAB
Experience developing coupled loads
Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA)
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated experience with ADAMS Multibody dynamics software, NX Simulation, LS-Dyna, Wave6, or equivalent
Experience with fibro-acoustic analysis using Wave6
Knowledge and/or experience with static and structural dynamics analysis of spacecraft, aircraft, or missiles
Experience with modern substructure modeling, assembly, and component mode synthesis methods such as Craig-Bampton sub structuring
Proficiency in Finite Element Modeling, modal analysis techniques, and model correlation/verification
Experience in the planning and execution of static, vibration, acoustic, modal, and shock tests for aerospace flight hardware
