We are seeking a Senior Appian Engineer to support the design and development of scalable Appian solutions that modernize enterprise workflows and improve operational transparency. This role offers strong technical ownership, opportunities to influence design decisions, and the ability to contribute to high-visibility initiatives in a collaborative Agile environment. This position is well suited for experienced Appian engineers who are comfortable working independently, contributing to architecture discussions, and delivering secure, high-performing applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design and develop Appian applications using SAIL, Process Models, Records, Reports, CDTs, and expression rules.
• Contribute to solution design decisions, including data modeling, integration strategies, and application scalability.
• Develop and maintain integrations using REST APIs, Web APIs, Connected Systems, and Integration Objects.
• Leverage Appian Data Fabric and external data sources to create efficient, maintainable data structures.
• Apply best practices for security, object reuse, performance optimization, and maintainability.
• Participate in peer reviews and share knowledge across the development team.
• Support CI/CD deployment activities and coordinate promotions across environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide story-level estimates.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• 4+ years of Appian development experience, including experience with enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with SAIL, Process Models, Records, and application object design.
• Experience building and supporting API-based integrations.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, performance considerations, and Appian security configurations.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Ability to independently manage development tasks from design through deployment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Appian certification (Associate, Level 1+, or higher).
• Experience contributing to application design or architectural discussions.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices.
• Experience supporting regulated or public sector environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of the Interior (DOI) Background Investigation (BI) clearance.

• Remote
