Overview

We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL/AlloyDB Database Administrator with deep experience in large‑scale data environments, disaster recovery, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. This role is fully remote, but would be Eastern Standard Time.

Key Responsibilities

-Expert guidance on PostgreSQL and AlloyDB management, including indexing strategies, vacuuming, query optimization, and schema design.
- Advise data engineering teams on database performance, architecture, and tuning best practices for high‑volume, mission‑critical workloads.
- Evaluate and optimize database configurations to support massive data throughput and low‑latency operations.
- Offer architectural recommendations and best practices for:
- AlloyDB: performance optimization, configuration, and operational management.
- Dataflow: streaming and batch processing pipelines, including Apache Beam.
- Pub/Sub: event-driven architectures, message durability, and throughput tuning.
- Cloud Functions: operational stability, data processing patterns, and integration points.
- Review and enhance backup and recovery strategies, ensuring alignment with federal requirements and enterprise SLAs.
- Design and validate disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) configurations for large-scale, distributed systems.
- Ensure redundancy, failover, and data durability strategies are appropriate for massive data volumes and mission-critical workloads.

Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- 8+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, including real-world disaster recovery execution—not just planning.
- Deep expertise with PostgreSQL and AlloyDB, including performance tuning, replication, and HA.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-grade data platforms at scale.
- Expert-level proficiency with Google Cloud Platform, including:
- Dataflow (Apache Beam)
- Pub/Sub
- Cloud Functions
- AlloyDB
- Strong understanding of API-driven architectures, data movement patterns, and large-scale data processing.
- Experience working within FedRAMP-regulated environments or similar compliance frameworks.
- Ability to mentor engineering teams and translate complex architectural concepts into clear, actionable documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle databases (migration, tuning, or operational support).
- Background supporting federal agencies or large-scale public-sector data systems.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid data architectures.
