Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Industrial Engineer.This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get To Do:
• Evaluate and review designs-such as those from Bechtel-ensuring they meet engineering standards and local code requirements.
• Analyze structural elements, geotechnical factors, and material specifications to ensure safety and compliance.
• Use their specialized training in subjects like structural analysis and environmental considerations to provide a critical technical perspective.
• Act as a central point in coordinating both design and construction activities, ensuring that plans are seamlessly translated into actual on-site work.
• Maintain constant communication with subcontractors who execute design and construction tasks. This coordination is key for gathering real-time project status reports and accurate progress updates.
• Oversight of field construction activities to ensure adherence to approved designs, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Develop detailed project plans that incorporate field submittals along with schedule, cost, and risk assessments.
• Track all field documentation, including construction submittals, changes, and real-time data about project costs and potential risks.
• Ensure that the project timeline, budget, and scope are continuously aligned by monitoring progress and mitigating risks early in the process.
• Participate proactively in researching and evaluating new construction methods and materials during the early stages of the project.
• Leverage innovative insights gained from research to inform and enhance the final facility design, thus increasing project efficiency and performance.
• Serve as a bridge between the engineering teams, subcontractors, customers, and leadership.
• Provide clear, detailed, and regular progress reports that reflect both design and on-site construction updates.
• Ensure that all stakeholders stay informed about project developments and any adjustments to plans

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
• 8 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 4 Years of relevant experience with PhD; 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain U.S. Government DoD Interim Secret security clearance prior to start, and the ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance post-start
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings
• Supplier and DoD contracting familiarity
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Previous experience in production for a military program
• Previous experience on EMD projects
• Prior experience with Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM)
• Experience with Siemens NX tools, Model based engineering, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
• Demonstrated experience using SAP, Windows software packages and other electronic databases.
• Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.
• Demonstrated Project Management experience.
• Ability to provide and implement technical solutions to advanced problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
• Government Coordination and Comfortability to communicate with Senior leaders
Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
