Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT; Huntsville, AL; or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Sentinel program.
The Sr. Staff Software Systems Engineer is a key technical leader for the Sentinel Digital Thread solution. Key responsibilities include:
• Translating allocated capability needs captured through use case definitions, allocated system requirements, and functions into an integrated set of software requirements and functions across multiple software items
• Coordinating with Digital Thread product management and other technical leadership on execution approach, progress, risks, and opportunities
• Driving software technical execution to ensure software development activities (including software architecture definition, design, code development, and testing) through deployment will meet mission needs
• Understanding stakeholder needs and perspectives to ensure that the digital thread implementation satisfies those needs
• Ensuring teams are designing and implementing software with compliance to system software development plan
• Mentoring team members and guiding program leadership in alignment with near and long term strategic plans.
In addition, the Sr. Staff Software Systems Engineer provides leadership in Software Systems Engineering in relation to program execution, champions culture change, and mentors junior engineers. The ideal candidate has extensive software systems engineering and/or model-based engineering experience.
Basic Qualifications:
• 14 Years with Bachelor degree; 12 Years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience developing, decomposing, and verifying software requirements
• Experience developing and realizing software architectures using UML
• Experience overseeing software development efforts
• Experience supporting major program events across multiple phases of the DoD acquisition lifecycle
• Demonstrated performance driving execution of complex projects with proven collaboration and coordination skills across internal and external stakeholder organizations
• Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering methods and tools
• Experience with software deployment utilizing DevOps principles & tools (e.g., Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment pipelines)
• Experience developing web applications to be deployed across multiple airgapped environments / sets of infrastructure
• Experience developing / deploying containerized software
• Experience developing / deploying software into classified environments
• Familiarity with API development and integration
• Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering specialties (systems engineering standards, configuration management, CI/CD, digital transformation, data science, and data engineering etc.)
Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
