GenAI Software Engineer

Piper Companies is looking for a GenAI Software Engineer to help design scalable GenAI capabilities, build shared AI components, and ensure reliable performance across real-world applications. The deal GenAI Software Engineer must work in a hybrid setting onsite 3 days per week near Morrisville, NC .

Responsibilities of the GenAI Software Engineer:

• Design, develop, and deploy GenAI-powered features for production environments.
• Integrate LLMs and AI components into backend services and internal platforms.
• Build reusable GenAI tools, frameworks, and APIs that support multiple product teams.
• Monitor, evaluate, and improve AI systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and safe behavior.
• Create technical documentation and best practices for developing and operating GenAI systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver clear and trustworthy AI functionality.
• Lead architectural decisions related to performance, security, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the AI stack, including prompts, data flows, and cloud services.

Qualifications for the GenAI Software Engineer:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience on production-level systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying GenAI or machine-learning features into live environments.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Advanced programming skills in TypeScript and Node.js, with backend service development experience.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, and service reliability.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and operating AI workloads in the cloud.
• Proficiency in SQL, including data modeling, performance tuning, and analytical queries.
• Familiarity with prompt development, guardrails, evaluation methods, and error handling for GenAI systems.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).

Compensation / Benefits for the GenAI Software Engineer:

• Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 base salary (depending on experience) plus bonus and equity
