Systems Technician

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Technician to support a company focused on providing mission-critical communications infrastructure for the Maryland Department of Information Technology. This position is on-site in Ocean City, MD. The Systems Technician will install, program, and maintain P25 communication equipment in support of the Maryland FiRST statewide system. This role directly supports public safety operations across Maryland, enabling first responders-including police, fire, EMT, and hospital systems-to communicate reliably during life-critical events.

Responsibilities for the Systems Technician include:

• Installing, programming, and maintaining P25 communication equipment and Motorola BDA/DAS systems
• Designing and upgrading customer systems to meet operational needs
• Supporting customers and sales teams with quotes, bids, and installation schedules
• Providing Acceptance Test Plans and documenting results of site surveys
• Making modifications to electronic circuitry and deploying software/firmware updates

Required Qualifications for the Systems Technician include:

• 4+ years of experience troubleshooting Motorola Land Mobile Radios and trunking systems
• Experience troubleshooting P25 networks (preference for digital over analog systems)
• Skills in installation, programming, electronics troubleshooting, and RF communications
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical training strongly preferred)
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required state or customer-based clearance

Compensation for the Systems Technician includes:

• Salary Range: $30-40/hr **depending on experience**
