The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Electronic Technician D - Optics to provide support for our government customer in Kekaha, Kauai .

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Able to function in a wide range of assignments by following established procedures.
  • Maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, calibrates, removes, and installs equipment, and other assigned duties as directed with minimum.
  • Performs as an FTS operator to fly onboard U.S. Navy aircraft.
  • Perform installations and checkout of EW Systems and tracking devices on Range vessels and aircraft.
  • Supports EW and Frequency Interference Control (FIC) operations.
  • Installs, checks, calibrates and performs acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment.
  • Checks, packs, ships, install and operate portable EW/FIC systems/equipment at various remote locations.
  • Assists in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports and Contract Data Requirements (CDR).
  • Assists in training lower rated or new technicians in the day-to-day EW tasks.
  • In addition to the above, performs other tasks as directed.

Environmental: Requires periodic travel via helicopter and commercial aircraft and overnight encampment at remote sites.

Physical: Lifting, pushing and pulling 25 - 50 lbs. Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling or cramped work requiring repeated stooping or frequent stair climbing. Customer Contact, extended workday in a confined office laboratory work area, with field assignment sometimes in inclement weather.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High school graduate or equivalent + 2-year technical school
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the certification requirements with DOD 8570.01-M and an Operating Environment Certification commensurate with contract requirements. DOD 8570.01-M certification is mandatory within 60 days of employment for continued employment. Certification within the required Computing Environment must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in a related field with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the specific field of assignment.
  • Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and related procedures, needed to operate, maintain, and overhaul/modify electronic equipment to the component level.
  • Extensive knowledge in the use of test measurements and diagnostic equipment used in the repair of electronic equipment to the component level.
  • Soldering certificate from a commercial firm, technical school or Navy school is desirable.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain flight qualification as FTS operator to fly onboard U.S. Navy aircraft.
  • Must possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
