Build the tools behind the mission. Engineer the software that supports national defense systems in real time.
A Day in the Life - What You'll Do
• Design, develop, and maintain eTools software applications supporting defense and mission systems.
• Write and maintain high-quality code in GoLang, C++, C, ADA, and Python across multiple development efforts.
• Develop and execute unit tests and system tests to validate functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Work with structured data formats including JSON to enable system integration and interoperability.
• Read, analyze, and interpret code written in multiple programming languages to support debugging and feature enhancement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to capture requirements, refine concepts, and deliver mission-ready solutions.
• Contribute to technical documentation, work products, and presentations that clearly communicate design intent and system behavior.
• Support occasional travel (up to 10%) and operate fully on-site in a secure environment.
Required Qualifications
• Active, in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance required at time of application
• Demonstrated development experience in GoLang, C++, C, ADA, and Python
• Experience with unit test and system test development
• Fluency working with JSON data structures
• Ability to read and understand additional programming languages beyond primary development stack
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to translate complex concepts into technical work products
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a collaborative team environment
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
• Must be able to work on-site in Huntsville, AL
Level II Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
• 2-5 years of relevant software development experience
Level III Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
• 5-8 years of relevant software development experience
Level IV Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
• 8+ years of relevant software development experience
• Demonstrated leadership in technical direction, architecture, or mentoring junior developers
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing data reduction tools
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bamboo and Jenkins
• Experience using static code analysis and security tools such as Fortify and Coverity
• Experience with containers and containerized application development
• Knowledge of Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) systems
