This engagement supports a major network infrastructure relocation within secure headquarters facilities.
Job Description
We are seeking two Network Infrastructure Technicians to support a large-scale office and data center network relocation effort. This project involves relocating and re-establishing production network infrastructure within federal headquarters facilities.
The technicians will work closely with Network Engineers to safely move, stage, rack, cable, and validate network equipment. The day-to-day will be highly hands-on, involving physical installation of switches, routers, firewalls, and associated copper and fiber cabling. This role plays a critical part in ensuring LAN connectivity is restored accurately and securely during migration cutovers.
The ideal candidate thrives in structured, security-driven environments and understands the importance of handling production infrastructure carefully while following formal change management and safety procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with moving and staging network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, racks)
Rack and mount network hardware according to engineering standards
Install and remove copper and fiber network cabling
Perform structured cable management and labeling
Assist with Layer 1 and basic Layer 2 validation (link status, port connectivity, VLAN verification)
Support migration and cutover activities under direction of Network Engineers
Maintain clean, organized network closets and rack environments
Follow formal change management and safety procedures during relocation
Required Experience / Skills
Experience installing and racking network equipment in enterprise environments
Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling standards and patch panel configuration
Understanding of LAN Layer 1 and Layer 2 concepts (ports, VLANs, link status)
Experience working in network closets or data center environments
Ability to handle production equipment carefully and professionally
Comfortable lifting and moving network hardware within safety limits
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Nice-to-Haves
Prior office or data center migration experience
Familiarity with Cisco and/or Aruba network hardware
Experience working with fiber optic cabling
Experience supporting live production environments
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification (Network+, CCNA, or similar) preferred but not required
Pay & Benefits Summary
Pay Rate: Up to $62.89/hour
Exposure to large-scale enterprise network relocation projects
