Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Software Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in Chantilly, VA. This role is ideal for a Full Stack Developer supporting a backend development team focused on middleware development and backend services. The successful candidate will have strong experience with big data technologies, backend service development, AWS cloud services, and modern Java development. This position requires hands-on development skills, the ability to support production deployments, and collaboration within an Agile development environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and deploy middleware and backend services supporting enterprise mission applications.
• Support backend development efforts focused on system integrations and service development.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and modern Java.
• Utilize big data processing tools to support large-scale data workflows and analytics.
• Perform data quality analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of datasets.
• Work with indexing and search technologies such as Solr or ElasticSearch.
• Develop scripts and automation using Bash and Python in Linux environments.
• Support cloud-based development and deployment using AWS services.
• Collaborate with team members using Jira and GitHub for Agile tracking and source control.
• Support production system deployments and troubleshooting across middleware/backend components.
Mandatory Skills
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly
• Demonstrated experience utilizing big data technologies such as SPARC or PySPARC.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing indexing technologies such as Solr or ElasticSearch.
• Demonstrated experience performing data quality analysis.
• Demonstrated experience working with Regular Expressions (RegEx).
• Demonstrated experience programming using languages such as Java, JavaScript, Bash, and Python.
• Demonstrated experience working with several AWS services.
• Demonstrated experience writing Java 8+ (with upcoming upgrade to Java 17).
• Demonstrated experience using Jira and GitHub.
• Demonstrated experience developing with Spring Boot and building RESTful APIs.
• Demonstrated experience working with Linux operating systems such as CentOS.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and deploying middleware and/or backend code into a production environment.
Preferred Skills
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise middleware platforms.
• Experience working with distributed data pipelines and backend processing frameworks.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and optimizing performance.
• Experience supporting DevOps pipelines and automation.
