The Undersea Weapons, Vehicles and Defensive Systems Department (Code 85) of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) is the Navy's Center for warfare systems including: torpedoes, countermeasures, unmanned undersea vehicles, tactical systems, underwater targets, multi-weapon simulators, and weapon systems. In pursuit of its mission, Code 85 develops, maintains, manages, and operates unique and specialized computer laboratory facilities and resources to support research, development, simulation, test and evaluation. NUWCDIVNPT is tasked with the responsibility for all hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) torpedo simulation efforts. This mandate covers all torpedoes (heavyweight/lightweight) and includes related systems such as targets, models, support and test equipment, operational software, software tools, countermeasures, and Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs). The Undersea Vehicles Modeling & Simulation Branch Code 8515 including the Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF), of the Advanced Technology Modeling and Simulation Division (851) is responsible for meeting the dedicated computer requirements for all torpedo simulation efforts. Dedicated mission critical computer laboratory resources and other resources are an integral part of virtually every significant weapon system. As such, Code 8515 is responsible for assuring the quality, security, safety, reliability, and maintainability of all these resources. These responsibilities include providing technical and operational services for these resource facilities.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the WAF Simulator & Systems Support Specialist will provides on-site operational, technical, and maintenance support for real-time simulators and associated laboratory systems within the Warfare Analysis Facility (WAF). This role supports daily simulator operations, system availability, user assistance, and lab infrastructure maintenance to ensure uninterrupted mission execution for Government users on the Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF) Operational Support Services contract. This position is located in Newport, RI.

What You'll Do
- Support daily operations of WAF real-time simulators in accordance with established facility procedures.Perform simulator startup, configuration verification, and operational readiness checks prior to scheduled use.
- Operate simulators, maintain run logs, and manage simulation data in accordance with lab policies.
- Troubleshoot simulator, system, and Unit-Under-Test (UUT) anomalies and document issues using approved tracking tools.
- Provide hands-on support and instruction to Government users, including assistance with scenario development and simulator operation.
- Provide day-to-day operation and maintenance support for WAF lab systems, including servers, workstations, networks, and peripheral hardware.
- Monitor lab environments for system health, usage, and operational status.Perform system diagnostics, corrective maintenance, and restoration of downed systems to operational status.
- Support hardware upgrades, replacements, imaging, and system configuration activities.
- Maintain system documentation, operating procedures, configuration records, and status reports.
- Manage data transfers, storage, and electronic media creation as required by users and facility procedures.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
- HS Diploma required.
- One (1) years of experience providing basic experience working with computers, technical systems, or laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems at a user or basic support level.
- Ability to follow written procedures and accurately document work performed.
- Willingness to learn simulator operations and laboratory systems.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for hardware or software issues.
- Ability to work on-site in a secure facility during scheduled hours.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Must possess strong time management skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.

- Prior experience supporting IT systems, simulators, or technical equipment.
- Basic experience performing system setup, configuration, or imaging activities.
- Experience working in a Government or controlled laboratory environment.
- Experience maintaining logs, schedules, or equipment inventories.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
