Overview
Nakupuna Companies is looking for a entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing.

Skills/Qualifications: Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required. Must be self-motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Government Contracting & Deltek Costpoint is preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen.

The projected compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical hourly range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.

Responsibilities

- Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutions
- Prepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for review
- Assists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including Accounts Payable voucher entry, employee expense reports, and billing
- Assists Senior Accountant in new employee setup and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etc
- Recommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved procedures
- Creates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team members
- Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
- Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Complete ad hoc/other requests as necessary

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution
- 1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred
- Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable
