Description
We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead AWS Administrator to provide senior-level technical leadership for the design, migration, and optimization of complex enterprise workloads on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is highly specialized, combining deep AWS architecture expertise with advanced governance and integration of Tivoli/IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS) to support large-scale, cross-platform workload automation.

Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Cloud Leadership
- Lead the design and implementation of highly available, enterprise-grade AWS environments utilizing EC2, EKS, RDS, and VPC architectures.
- Establish architectural patterns optimized for large-scale workload scheduling and automation.
Modernization & Migration
- Direct the migration of TWS components from on-premises platforms (including AIX and Mainframe environments) to AWS-native solutions.
- Drive containerized deployments using Amazon EKS and modern orchestration techniques.
Enterprise Automation Governance
- Define and enforce global standards for job scheduling, workload streams, dependencies, and disaster recovery.
- Design multi-region resilience strategies to support mission-critical batch and real-time workloads.
CI/CD & DevOps Integration
- Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines using Terraform and/or Ansible.
- Automate deployment and lifecycle management of AWS infrastructure and TWS agents.
Mentorship & Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level administrators and engineers.
- Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure technical excellence.
Basic Qualifications
Experience
- A Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering roles, additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience, including leadership of complex enterprise initiatives.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust.
- All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.
Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and containerized platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of Tivoli/IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS), version 9.5 or higher.
Advanced TWS / IWS Technical Capabilities
Cloud-Native TWS Deployment
- Deploy and manage TWS components (MDM, DWC) within Amazon EKS using Helm charts.
- Configure high-availability architectures, including Backup Master Domain Managers across separate AWS Availability Zones.
Advanced Integration & Automation
- Utilize Dynamic Workload Broker to dynamically provision AWS compute resources, including Spot Instances, based on job requirements.
- Orchestrate AWS services (Lambda, Glue ETL jobs) using TWS Shadow Jobs or native AWS connectors.
Security & Compliance
- Integrate TWS user access with AWS IAM roles to enable secure access to AWS services such as S3 and RDS.
- Implement and maintain SSL/TLS authentication between on-premises masters and cloud-based agents.
Performance, Monitoring & SLA Management
- Integrate TWS logs with Amazon CloudWatch or ELK stacks to enable advanced observability and operational dashboards.
- Tune TWS calendars, critical path monitoring, and workload priorities to meet stringent AWS-based SLAs.
