The Space Intelligence Systems Department has the mission to enhance our sponsors' planning, and strategy execution across the national security enterprise through all-source intelligence and resource analysis that informs decision-making to address threats in an era of strategic competition.

Roles and Responsibilities:

MITRE is seeking an Intel Principal Acquisition Advisor who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world. The position involves extensive collaboration across the IC and DoD components and requires experience working with multiple Agencies, Departments, and external partners to help them develop requirements capability documents to be validated.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Work on or lead acquisition efforts throughout their life cycle, including conceptualization, requirements definition, procurement, and post award contract management activities to ensure the expected benefits of each procurement action is realized.
  • Lead and advise the government sponsor on acquisition strategy, roadmap, repeatable processes, and develop actionable acquisition solutions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop acquisition artifacts to include requirements documents (SOW, SOO, PWS), requests for proposals, source selection plans, acquisition plans, risk management plans, cost estimates, and other documents as necessary.
  • Provide acquisition support, including market analysis, cost analysis, requirements, rough orders of magnitude, and contract changes.
  • Participate and assist in source selection, recommend evaluation factors, evaluation, and analysis of proposal-provided data/information.
  • Support efforts to research, develop, and implement innovative acquisition solutions to bring capabilities to the programs faster and more cost effective.
  • Attend meetings with the technical, systems engineering, cost, and procurement teams to effectively define acquisition products that meet technical, schedule, and programmatic requirements.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or 5 years and a PhD; or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Experience providing acquisition support to the Intelligence Community in acquiring managed services (technical and business) to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience developing repeatable acquisition process, acquisition artifacts (e.g., requirements documents (SOW, SOO, PWS), requests for proposals, source selection plans, acquisition plans, risk management plans, cost estimates, and other documents as necessary).
  • Experience providing pre- and post-award acquisition support, including market analysis, cost analysis, requirements, rough orders of magnitude, and contract changes.
  • Ability to translate operational mission needs into acquisition, technical, and programmatic requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience and capability to advise on all aspects of the federal acquisition life cycle to implement and adopt innovative acquisition solutions.
  • Experience participating and assisting in source selection, recommending evaluation factors, proposal evaluation process, and analyzing offer proposals.
  • DAWIA Contracting Level II or III or NCMA CFCM or CPCM certification.
  • DAWIA Program Management Level II or III or PMI PMP certification.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$138,800 - $173,500 - $208,200 Annual
