Role Overview:
The Okta Support Specialist will serve as a Tier 2 technical escalation point within a high-performing cybersecurity and IAM team. This role focuses on ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable identity services across enterprise environments, supporting authentication, access governance, and identity lifecycle management initiatives.
Role Highlights:
• Position: Okta Support Specialist (IAM / Identity & Access Management)
• Location: McLean, VA or Remote (U.S.-based)
• Job Type: Full Time
• Pay Rate: $113,000 – $188,000 annually (commensurate with experience, certifications, and clearance status)
• Clearance: Ability to Obtain and Maintain Public Trust (U.S. Citizenship Required)
• Interview Process: 1–2 rounds
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide Tier 2 support for Okta incidents involving SSO, MFA, lifecycle management, and access provisioning
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex authentication and authorization issues
• Configure and manage Okta applications, policies, user groups, and authentication flows
• Support integrations with SaaS, cloud, and on-premise systems
• Analyze logs, identify root causes, and implement preventative solutions
• Manage MFA configurations including Okta Verify, FIDO, YubiKey, and OTP
• Partner with Service Desk, Security, and Engineering teams to enhance IAM operations
• Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and security best practices
• Support enterprise IAM operations within a cybersecurity consulting environment, with exposure to broader security strategy, governance, and risk initiatives
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience engineering and deploying enterprise IT systems
• Strong hands-on experience administering Okta as an enterprise identity provider
• Deep knowledge of SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect
• Experience configuring authentication policies and application integrations in Okta
• Experience managing MFA factors (Okta Verify, FIDO tokens, OTP, YubiKey)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot authentication, SSO, and access provisioning issues
• Understanding of identity lifecycle management and IAM governance principles
• Knowledge of cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Okta Certified Professional, Administrator, Consultant, Developer, or Architect
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, or Okta APIs for automation
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud environments
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience contributing to cybersecurity policy development
• Active Public Trust or Secret clearance
