Overview

This role involves performing in-depth technical evaluations, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of Depot Level Repairable (DLRs), including detailed analysis of U.S. Navy electronics and subassemblies down to the component level. Responsibilities include providing technical support for resolving Fleet Casualty Reports (CASREPs), maintaining and updating bench stock repair parts, and accurately documenting parts usage and labor hours. The position also contributes to the development and refinement of testing methods, equipment, and work instructions to improve repair processes. Additionally, it requires conducting Beyond Economic Repair analyses on DLR materials returned from the fleet to determine cost-effectiveness and future disposition.

Responsibilities

Provide technical evaluations, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of Depot Level Repairable (DLR)
Provide technical support to resolve Fleet Casualty Reports (CASREPs)
Assist with maintaining and updating Bench Stock Repair Parts
Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot USN electronics and subassemblies down to the component level
Develop/ update testing methods and equipment
Develop/ update work instructions for testing electronics
Accurately record parts required/ used and hours spent on modules
Perform Beyond Economic Analyses on Depot Level Repairables (DLR) material returned from fleet
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
Formal electronics training from a Technical School, Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or a four-year electronics apprentice program
Seven (7) years of experience to also include: design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings, or an Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science
Formal electronics training from a Technical School, Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or a four-year electronics apprentice program
Five (5) years of experience to also include: design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings.
Years of experience include:
Ability to use a Multi Meter, Familiar with the Spectrum Analyzer and Oscilloscope.  
Ability to use and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics. Ability to do soldering. 
An individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties:  
Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapting standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;  
Following a specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment;  
Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment, and records test data;  
Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation; and assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
