Tier 2 LAN-WiFi-Voice Network Engineer to support the USPS System for Network information Technology (NIT) Network Connectivity Platform (NCP) team. As a Tier 2 LAN-WiFi-Voice Network Engineer, act as the Tier-2 escalation point for enterprise radio and voice system issues, including providing troubleshooting and operational support.
HOW A TIER 2 LAN-WiFi-Voice NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Perform LMR radio programming and configuration using Radio Management Software, including codeplug management
Advise stakeholders on radio configurations, system updates, and best practices to improve performance and usability
Coordinate with LMR vendors, service providers, and project management teams to resolve incidents and support initiatives
Produce and deliver monthly radio inventory and configuration reports, including device type, model, and codeplug details
Develop and maintain technical documentation covering system configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
Support the creation and analysis of user and local agency surveys to drive system improvements
Ensure LMR and radio equipment comply with FCC regulations and organizational technical standards
Support LAN, Wi-Fi, and voice network environments as they relate to radio communications systems
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience:
8+ years of hands-on experience
Education:
A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred. NOTE: Four (4) years’ additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
Required skills:
Must Have Hands-on experience supporting Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems:
Motorola radio management 2.157.149.0 Using Motorola R7/R5
Legacy equipment XPR7550E/3550
Must have working knowledge of said equipment
Online Motorola training would be a plus
Strong knowledge of radio programming, codeplugs, and radio management software
Must be able to configure Motorola radios and set up Motorola radio management
Tier 2 support experience in LAN, Wi-Fi, and voice network environments
Familiarity with FCC compliance requirements for radio and wireless systems
Experience coordinating with telecom vendors, service providers, and project managers
Ability to produce clear, well-structured technical documentation and reports
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
Experience supporting large enterprise or government environments preferred
Location:
Raleigh, NC - Onsite, with day a week Remote
Security Clearance Level:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
