Description:Receives requests for and dispatches various vehicles and equipment operating within and outside Company property, utilizing a knowledge of vehicle and equipment usage and of Company facilities and city locations; determines and assigns type of vehicle and equipment required for the job and the priority according to nature of request; furnishes information to operators such as type and amount of equipment required, locations of pickup and delivery, type of material or items involved and any special instructions required for the specific job to which operator is assigned; indicates route to be followed, and verifies operators have proper street permits such as oversized load, completed aircraft and controlled materials.
PERFORMS SUCH RELATED DUTIES AS:
Prepares and maintains necessary records and logs, evidencing location, status and activities of equipment in support of the duties as described.
Performs clerical duties, operates a computer workstation and related state-of-the-art and conventional office equipment in support of and not to exceed the level of difficulty as described.
Operates two-way communication system with operators of various vehicles and equipment in support of the duties as described.
Executes administrative tasks limited to the transportation and material operations departments.
Utilizes tact and courtesy in the performance of the duties as described.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of two years of experience relating to transportation and material-handling equipment.
Desired Skills:
• Understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) rules for highway drivers (hours-of-service, load securement, etc.).
• Basic understanding of forklift capacities, crane lift ratings, and trailer specifications.
• Experience with dispatch/transport management software (e.g., Transportation Dispatch System, Project Tooling Request, SAP).
• Ability to match the right operator/driver to the appropriate equipment and job requirements.
• Ability to manage expectations and provide timely status updates.
• Efficiently handle simultaneous dispatch calls, updates, and urgent requests.
• Ability to stay focused and organized under fluctuating workload conditions.
• Effective communication, coordination and writing skills.
• Operation of a computer workstation and related state-of-the-art equipment.
• Operation of a two-way radio communication system.
• Must possess knowledge and skill of Microsoft Office applications

The base range for this position in California is $22.87 - $35.47.
