Job Description
We have an opening for a skilled and detail-oriented BIM Specialist who will focus on developing, coordinating, and maintaining BIM models and construction documents for facility design projects. This is a BIM and design-technology focused role. You will work closely with architects and engineers, applying your knowledge of building systems and construction practices to produce accurate, coordinated multi-disciplinary drawings and 3D models. The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail. This position is in the Project Management Office (PMO).
The Project Management Office (PMO) provides LLNL with engineering, design, estimating, construction, demolition, and project management services. PMO provides infrastructure services to enable cutting-edge research and development in the areas of defense technologies, global security, laser science, bioscience, and more. PMO offers cradle to grave infrastructure services to achieve reliable delivery of completed projects with priority on safety, collaboration, and a workforce working toward our shared vision.
Pay Range:
$129,150 - $196,476 Annually
$129,150 - $163,764 Annually at the TSS.2
$154,950 - $196,476 Annually at the TSS.3
This is the lowest to highest salary range in good faith we believe would pay for this role at the time of this posting. You will
- Develop, update, and maintain BIM models and construction drawing sets for architectural and engineering disciplines. Prepare coversheet, plans, elevations, sections, and details in accordance with project standards and LLNL requirements.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and design managers to incorporate design changes and resolve model coordination issues during various project phases.
- Maintain and enhance BIM templates, families, and libraries to support consistent, efficient project delivery.
- Support multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment while adhering to deadlines.
- Use independent discretion and judgment to provide solutions to establish or modify guidelines, techniques, and procedures, to choose appropriate work methods and possibly set priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities at the TSS.3 Level
- Provide mentorship and technical advice to keep BIM software users up to date on new productivity techniques and training.
- Provide quality assurance reviews of project BIM deliverables at milestones or project close-out.

Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in architecture, engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an architectural/engineering design office environment within the last 3 years.
- Proficiency in Revit and experience in other BIM related software (e.g. Twin Motion, AVAIL, IDEATE, ect)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite and Bluebeam Revu
- Knowledge of drafting practices, techniques, standards and procedures in preparing multidisciplinary construction drawings or technical graphics with a strong understanding of architectural or engineering principles.
- Highly dependable with outstanding attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment and adaptable to changing priorities
Additional Qualifications at the TSS.3 Level
- Significant technical expertise in one or more of the following: architectural, structural, mechanical, or electrical design fields, with specialized knowledge in areas such as materials, fabrication processes, construction methods, visualization, 3D laser scanning, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of REVIT and other architectural & engineering discipline-specific software packages.
- Significant experience in various project types and scales.
- Ability to make independent technical decisions and recognize complex design issues that may have significant consequences to broad segments and/or sections of a major project.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in an architectural/engineering design office environment within the last 3 years.
Desired Qualifications
- Autodesk Revit Certified Professional or other technical certification in Building Information Modeling
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks and ReCap
- Able to evaluate and coordinate 3D laser scan information with existing condition for new design
