In this role, you will be a part of a dynamic team that is singularly focused on providing world-class solutions to our customers in a collaborative and inclusive environment that leverages Scrum-based software development methodologies and tools.
As a key part of the team, you will support the Air-Vehicle Planning System (APS) for United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). APS provides USSTRATCOM with the national's only force-level aircraft and cruise-missile planning capabilities through advanced textual and geospatial visualizations.

Day in the Life:
- Act as the primary architect for specialized, client-facing web applications, ensuring all technical decisions prioritize high availability, security, and the needs of a high-trust user base.
- Lead the strategic migration of legacy systems to modern frameworks, focusing on long-term maintainability and performance to eliminate the need for future full-scale rewrites.
- Simplify framework adoption by prioritizing sustainable, high-value capabilities that reduce technical debt and minimize long-term implementation risks.
- Coordinate sprint execution across multiple engineering teams (totaling 14+ engineers), ensuring work is aligned with broader program goals and organizational milestones.
- Establish and maintain high-standard Agile workflows, including meaningful refinement, planning, and retrospectives to ensure consistent delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for product stakeholders, translating ambiguous business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps and high-readiness backlogs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks-specifically regarding data structure alignment and client-backend interfaces-to ensure stable product demonstrations and releases.
- Drive initiatives to optimize the developer lifecycle, including the maintenance and improvement of automated, source-controlled development environments to minimize onboarding friction.
- Execute other tasks as assigned by engineering leadership to support evolving program priorities, urgent client requirements, or emerging organizational needs.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or architectural role.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern framework migrations and designing scalable, high-trust web applications.
- High proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular) and back-end integration patterns like RESTful APIs or Microservices.
- Experience with automated development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Proven ability to coordinate and align the work of multi-team engineering groups (10+ members).
- Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, including the ability to facilitate high-impact refinement, planning, and retrospective sessions.
- Ability to identify technical risks early and design mitigation strategies that align with client-facing business goals.
- Excellent skills in translating ambiguous product requirements into clear technical specs and mentoring junior to mid-level engineers.
- Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment.
