NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Systems and Network Specialist to provide comprehensive systems administration and network support for TRICARE Area Office - Europe at Sembach, Germany, including server maintenance, LAN/WAN operations, and helpdesk support for European operations. The scope of this project is to provide LAN/WLAN network sustainment and operations services to the MHS MTFs and related activities, including DHA headquarters and training locations, outside the continental United States, OCONUS. This includes functions such as network performance measurement and monitoring, assistance with network design and development, network measurement. It also includes customer service in the form of trouble tracking and troubleshooting, at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 level, for escalated trouble tickets and maintenance and sparing support.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Maintain and operate TRICARE Area Office - Europe systems and network infrastructure.
• Perform server maintenance, software systems support, and network equipment management.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, firmware, and network problems.
• Configure, maintain, and upgrade network connection devices and automation equipment.
• Design TRICARE systems and components to meet operational requirements.
• Analyze LAN/WAN operations to ensure proper functioning and performance standards.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and network-related problems for European theater.
• Coordinate with host network support staff and applicable European agencies.
• Manage and maintain standard workstation configurations across TRICARE Europe systems.
• Provide helpdesk support for on-site users including desktop, laptop, and peripheral support.
• Support telecommunications systems (telephones, video teleconference, etc.)
• Comply with DoD and host network regulations and security requirements.
• Navigate European host-nation requirements and local technical standards.

Desired/Required Skills:

• Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance required.
• DoD Approved 8570 / 8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications required.
• Bachelor's degree or related technical training in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Management OR 5 years’ experience with technical certification.
• REQUIRED: Cisco CCNA or equivalent (BCNE for Brocade, etc.)
• Desired: Microsoft systems certifications
• Desired: Zero Trust Architecture awareness
• 6-9 years’ relevant systems and networking experience required.
• Clear understanding of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, HTTP, SHTTP, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP.
• Knowledge of EIGRP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS-449 protocols.
• Familiarity with 803.2, 802.3, 802.5, 802.10, 802.11, 802.3u/z standards.
• Experience with synchronous/asynchronous communications.
• Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, ISDN operations experience.
• Microwave and satellite communications experience.
• Cable testers and network sniffers proficiency.
• Windows NT/2000, UNIX, OpenVMS in routed/switched LAN environments.
• Routers, switches, hubs, terminal servers configuration.
• ISDN, 56 Kbps through T1-T3, European E1-E3, satellite, ATM WAN connectivity.
• Codex and PairGain CSU/DSU experience.
• DoD Healthcare Information Systems experience highly recommended.
• OCONUS experience preferred, especially European theater.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
