As a Data Engineer supporting USTRANSCOM’s Global Bulk Fuel mission, you will work on complex logistics and sustainment challenges that affect global force movement, fuel availability, and operational readiness across the Department of Defense. You will work on site, close to the mission and its stakeholders, using modern data platforms to engineer, analyze, and model data that supports real operational questions. Your work will directly inform senior leaders by enabling predictive analytics, data-driven insights, and operational visualization tools used to support mission-critical decisions.
This role is for someone who enjoys solving real problems with data, values context as much as code, and wants their work to be clearly connected to mission impact.
What You Will Do
• Engineer, analyze, and model data from the Joint Petroleum Enterprise to support global bulk fuel planning and execution
• Build and deploy analytical and predictive models to forecast demand, identify risk, and optimize logistics flows
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations that enhance the Global Common Operating Picture
• Work with data platforms including Databricks Lakehouse and Palantir Ontology to prepare and analyze complex datasets
• Collaborate with USTRANSCOM stakeholders, working groups, and governance boards to translate data into actionable decisions
• Support ad hoc and mission-driven analytics tied to real operational questions rather than abstract KPIs
What We Are Looking For
Required:
• Five or more years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related roles
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience building data pipelines and working with large, complex datasets
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Lakehouse architectures
• Ability to communicate technical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness to work on site at Scott Air Force Base and travel within CONUS approximately ten percent
Nice to Have (Not Required):
• Experience with Palantir Ontology
• Background in logistics, supply chain, fuel, or sustainment analytics
• Experience supporting DoD, DLA, or USTRANSCOM
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, APIs, or Maven Smart Systems

• Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI is required for this trusted, mission-facing role
• Restricted to U.S. persons as defined under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
