Job Description
The Assistant Dockmaster will develop drydocking skills under the guidance of a fully qualified Dockmaster. The Assistant Dockmaster as an assistant will become proficient in the drydocking of various types of vessels, as well as all aspects of dry dock preparation and operation, blocking development, ships stability, dry dock maintenance, record keeping, facility certification, etc. Additionally, he/she will develop the skills and knowledge to safely moor vessels at wet berths as well as proper line placement and gangway placement and configurations.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS - The Assistant Dockmaster should be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and drawings, government regulations, and professional journals; and be able to effectively present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Should be able to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; and be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY - Should be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from a four-year College or University; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Duties to include:
- Manage maintenance program for each dry dock such as preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ensure NAVSEA certification is maintained and keep update records of repairs for NAVSEA audits.
- Manage personnel that work on preventative and corrective maintenance on each dock.
- Provide training to personnel in order for them to be more knowledgeable and more efficient in docking and undocking.
- Manage special projects such as dredging, Dry Dock repair periods, and vessel movements to and from berths.
- Establish and foster an environment that encourages initiative, creative thinking, collaborative action, and process improvement that results in improved product quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Be the champion of teamwork. Collaborate with business leaders internally and externally and maintain close professional relationships with customers, prospective customers, and vendors.
- Responsible for developing people, including succession planning, education, courses, and training that improve people skills, improve engagement, and drive performance and productivity within the operations. Create a business culture where people are valued and engaged.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- H.S. education with emphasis on math.
- Five (5) years of experience in the Ship Repair Industry.
- Basic knowledge of naval architecture and marine engineering.
- Intermediate knowledge in ship handling.
- Computer literate with programs such as Micro-Soft Word, Outlook and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
- Be able to obtain Government Military Base Access.
