Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer position that has just opened in Manassas, VA. In this role, you will support the design, development, testing, and implementation of electronic hardware solutions for aerospace and defense applications, with a focus on printed circuit board (PCB) design, circuit analysis, and system integration. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to create schematics, select components, support PCB layout and simulation, assist with hardware bring-up and testing, and contribute to technical documentation and design reviews. To be considered, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field. An active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance is required at time of hire, and U.S. citizenship is required due to security and facility access requirements.

Contract: 12 Months or longer
Pay: $42.17 per hour
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Working under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborating with Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams, the Entry-Level Electrical Engineer will support engineering activities including design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electronic hardware and printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies for aerospace and defense systems. This role contributes to the successful development and integration of high-quality hardware solutions that meet strict performance, reliability, and security requirements. This may entail performing the following:
  • Performs entry-level electrical engineering tasks supporting aerospace and defense hardware programs
  • Assists in the design and development of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for power systems and electronic assemblies
  • Creates electrical schematics, performs component selection, and generates bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Collaborates with PCB layout teams to optimize component placement, routing, signal integrity, impedance control, and thermal performance
  • Supports circuit simulation and analysis using SPICE or similar tools
  • Assists with PCB bring-up, testing, debugging, and hardware verification
  • Uses laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators to evaluate and troubleshoot circuits
  • Generates engineering documentation including schematics, assembly drawings, test results, and design specifications
  • Participates in engineering design reviews and incorporates feedback from senior engineers
  • Supports integration and testing of circuit boards within larger system assemblies
  • Learns and applies IPC standards and best practices for PCB design and manufacturing
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and test engineering


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuit design
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented engineering environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with PCB design software such as Altium Designer, OrCAD Capture, KiCad, or similar
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222) and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, or similar
  • Familiarity with signal integrity concepts and high-speed circuit design
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators
  • Exposure to microcontrollers or embedded systems design
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations and thermal management in PCB design


Preferred Education and Experience

Candidates are encouraged to apply if they have academic, internship, or project experience in any of the following areas:
  • PCB design and development through coursework, internships, or academic projects
  • Experience with schematic capture tools such as OrCAD Capture, Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar
  • PCB layout fundamentals including trace width, impedance control, and layer stack-up
  • Circuit simulation tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, or similar
  • Communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, and USB
  • Power supply design, including linear regulators and DC-DC converters
  • Signal integrity, EMI/EMC considerations, and thermal management techniques
  • Component selection, datasheet interpretation, and BOM development
  • Internship, co-op, or senior design project involving PCB or hardware development


Other Requirements
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to security requirements and access to classified information
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality engineering work
