Summary
A Flight Controls & Motion Engineering co-op is responsible for supporting the Flight Controls & Motion group in software design, implementation, & testing. The successful candidate will support developing and testing software solutions for real-time simulation applications using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working under close supervision and candidate is responsible for code, test, and documentation of flight controls, autopilot, stability control and motion control system software designs, requiring the application of current industry design concepts and utilization of basic technical writing skills. Emphasis will be placed on supporting the groups engineers to meet program schedule, performance, budget. Assignments will be geared towards learning real-time programming techniques for flight simulation applications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree (or higher level) college/university program majoring in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be willing to learn new procedures and applications
- Must have good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be customer service-oriented
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- Familiarity with C++, Ada, or Python
- Understanding of the concepts of digital machine control systems, basic software engineering methodologies and tools.
- Ability to read. analyze, and interpret electrical & mechanical drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment
- Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
- Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
- The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
Physical Demands

- May be required to sit down for long lengths of time.
- Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator
- Must be able to perform effectively as part of the project "team".
- Must be able to use small tools and test equipment to assist technicians with control system rigging and measurement.
- Physical dexterity is required due to space limitations working in and around real and simulated cockpit environments.
