Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.

Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) is seeking a Technical Windows System Administrator SME to provide both hands-on technical expertise in managing, configuring, and optimizing cloud-based and on-premises systems for the FCC. The SME will serve as the escalation point for complex issues, and partner closely with program managers and government stakeholders to ensure system availability, security, and cost efficiency. This role requires deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows systems, and enterprise administration, along with the ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and align IT solutions with business and mission requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train junior staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, security standards, and program objectives.
  • Act as an escalation point for critical system issues, coordinating resolution across technical teams and government stakeholders.
  • Partner with program managers and contracting officials to align system initiatives with business and mission needs.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, governance policies, and compliance requirements (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver system performance reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to program leadership.
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, including virtual networks, storage, compute resources, and PaaS services.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Monitor and manage cloud costs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Automate cloud and system operations using PowerShell, ARM templates, or other scripting tools.
  • Create and deploy software packages using MECM, Tanium, and Intune.
  • Maintain RSA Authentication Manager (primary and replica servers) and administer SecurID tokens.
  • Remediate vulnerabilities and ensure endpoints meet CIS Benchmark and cybersecurity standards.
  • Support patch management, software deployment, encryption, and system hardening activities.
  • Implement and maintain Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and automation of enterprise systems.
  • Ensure continuous system availability, security compliance, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Document configurations and maintain detailed operating procedures for continuity of operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School and 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust Clearance


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
  • Extensive experience in managing and securing complex enterprise infrastructure with a deep focus on Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, virtualization, and advanced privileged access management in Microsoft System Center.
  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and connectivity issues
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Able to maintain VMware vCenter environments using ESXi hosts, distributed switches, and SAN datastores
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
