At Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS), our Airborne Multifunction Sensors department of Field Engineering is seeking an experienced Manager Systems Engineering 1. This is a dual role management position with approximately 80% of the role in direct technical and programmatic activities as well as 20% functional Field Engineering leadership activities.
This position is responsible for leading and developing a diverse technical team, of 10-12 Field Specialist, and Field, Electrical and Systems Engineering personnel that are located at the NGMS facility in Linthicum, MD and at CONUS and OCONUS customer field locations
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance for the Field Engineering team. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and direct a geographically diverse technical team supporting Airborne Multifunctional Systems' product lines.
- Establish and maintain effective management oversight and customer communications on various program efforts. A radar and flight operations and maintenance and systems integration background would be beneficial for this position.
- Support on-going technical support operations based in Baltimore with operations and sustainment support at field locations in both domestic and international locations. Additional growth opportunities are expected.
- Work closely with managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors, program managers and the NGC Global Mobility Office.
- Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field and a minimum of 5 years related people leadership experience or an MS Degree 3 years of people leadership related experience. (with a BS in STEM)
- 2 years experience in managing programs/projects to cost and schedule requirements
- 2 years experience in leading, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams on complex technical projects
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for specific needs. Travel is not expected to be significant (10% or less) but may be required for specific program activities.
- U.S. citizenship
- Current/active DoD Secret security clearance. An active DoD clearance is required to start. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Experience as a part of Field Engineering type operation
- Prior Radar or Comms systems Integration and Test or System Flight test experience
- New Business Proposal experience
- Cost Account Manager/Earned Value management knowledge/experience
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management, individual contributors and customers
