MANTECH seeks a skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering and technical support for Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and Avionics Support Equipment. This role supports the Common Aviation Support Equipment Program Office (PMA-260) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. This position is onsite.
In this position, you will help advance the development, integration, and sustainment of avionics support equipment that directly enhances the maintenance capabilities of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation personnel. You will support mission-critical aviation systems through hands-on systems engineering and technical leadership. You will help ensure support equipment solutions are reliable, maintainable, safe, and effective while meeting operational needs.

In this position, you will help advance the development, integration, and sustainment of avionics support equipment that directly enhances the maintenance capabilities of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation personnel. You will support mission-critical aviation systems through hands-on systems engineering and technical leadership. You will help ensure support equipment solutions are reliable, maintainable, safe, and effective while meeting operational needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as a Systems Engineer supporting Avionics Support Equipment and Automated Test Systems (ATS)
- Develop, manage, and maintain system requirements, technical plans, and systems engineering documentation
- Analyze and evaluate support equipment solutions with emphasis on reliability, maintainability, safety, and performance
- Translate operational and user needs into integrated, supportable system solutions
- Ensure diagnostics, testability, and supportability are incorporated into system designs
- Evaluate cost effectiveness of diagnostics, BIT/BITE, and test point design approaches
- Participate in design reviews, source selections, and proposal evaluations
- Serve as a focal point for Support Equipment Recommendation Data through Logistics Support Analysis activities
- Mentor junior engineers and brief senior leadership on program status, risks, and technical considerations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 3+ years of relevant systems engineering experience
- Experience with avionics systems, Automated Test Equipment, Test Program Sets, and diagnostics
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional experience that will help you excel in this role includes
- Experience supporting Navy or Marine Corps aviation programs
- Familiarity with logistics support analysis and sustainment planning for avionics support equipment
Clearance Requirements
- US Citizenship is required and an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move about the work environment as needed to support engineering and program activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and customers, exchanging accurate technical information in both written and verbal forms.
