Job Title: Business Process Model & Notation (BPMN) Consultant

JOB SUMMARY:
Genesis Consulting is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking BPMN Consultant to support modernization initiatives for State Agency Legacy Systems. This role focuses on documenting and analyzing current-state business processes, developing BPMN-compliant process models, and supporting future-state process definition to inform system modernization and Request for Proposal (RFP) development. The BPMN Consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership to translate operational workflows into clear, standardized process models that support system replacement or modernization planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and maintain BPMN 2.0–compliant process models for state agency legacy systems.
· Document current-state (“as-is”) business processes, decision points, roles, and system interaction.
· Collaborate with business users and subject matter experts to validate process models and documentation.
· Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, manual workarounds, and areas impacted by legacy system limitations.
· Assist in defining future-state (“to-be”) business processes aligned with modernization objectives.
· Support development of process improvement recommendations and modernization assumptions.
· Ensure future-state processes are clearly documented, vendor-neutral, and traceable to business requirements.
· Participate in workshops, interviews, and working sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
· Coordinate with project managers, technical writers, reporting, and data teams to ensure alignment across documentation.
· Incorporate feedback and updates into process models and supporting artifacts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
· 5+ years of experience performing business process analysis and BPMN modeling.
· Demonstrated experience creating BPMN 2.0 diagrams for enterprise or government systems.
· Experience documenting processes supported by legacy application environments.
· Strong analytical, facilitation, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience supporting State or local government modernization initiatives.
· Familiarity with legacy technologies and system constraints (e.g., C++, VB6, COBOL, .NET, Oracle databases).
· Experience contributing to RFP development or procurement documentation.
· Experience working with cross-functional project teams in structured project environments.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analysis, Information Systems, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
