MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (MBA CSi) is seeking a Human Factors Engineer to support high-impact engineering projects for the Test, Evaluation and Quality organization of the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Merrifield, VA. Position is a full-time exempt position and requires that you work at USPS Engineering HQ in Merrifield, VA, M-F for a total of at least 40 hours per week. This position does not allow teleworking from home.
The primary duty is to design systems, products, and environments that optimize human well-being and overall system performance by applying knowledge of human behavior, biomechanics, and psychology . The efforts support USPS programs to realign its mail processing network and facilities and automate sorting and distribution processes.

Key Responsibilities
- User Research & Data Collection: Conduct interviews, surveys, and direct observations to understand user needs, fatigue, and physical capabilities.
- System Design & Prototyping: Collaborate with designers to create product prototypes, user interfaces (UI), and "cognitive aids" like procedural storyboards or decision support systems.
- Usability Testing: Design and execute formative and summative usability studies to evaluate how easily and safely people can interact with a system.
- Risk & Safety Analysis: Investigate work environments for physical hazards and perform "use-related risk analysis" to prevent human error, in the use of automation equipment,
- Interdisciplinary Advocacy: Serve as the "voice of the user" when working with cross-functional teams including procurement, and engineering departments.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, electrical), psychology (cognitive or engineering), or human factors/ergonomics.
- Entry level (0-2 years of experience in the field).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Must pass background check & drug screening; eligible for Public Trust clearance.
