Position Summary
The Senior Network Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The role involves network design, configuration, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and sustaining IT network and boundary protection systems. This position requires technical expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, and DoD boundary protection technologies.

Position Summary

The role involves network design, configuration, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and sustaining IT network and boundary protection systems. This position requires technical expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, and DoD boundary protection technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate network design and implementation efforts with project managers and service area teams.
- Review engineering documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
- Support design, configuration, installation, and testing of IT network and boundary protection devices.
- Perform daily maintenance, operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and restoral of C2BMC networks.
- Perform site surveys and assist in developing technical solutions.
- Configure, install, test, and sustain network protection devices and systems.
- Perform data collection and validation of network services and devices.
- Maintain technical expertise in routers, firewalls, gateways, and network systems.
- Demonstrate leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
- Perform technical validation of network designs per industry and DoD best practices.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
- 8+ years full-time general work experience (may be reduced with advanced education).
- 6+ years experience with Internet Protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL), firewalls, LAN/WAN/VxLAN/SDN, or VoIP infrastructure.
- Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers, switches, firewalls, OSPF, NAT, SNMP, Syslog, VRF, and network timing systems.
- 1+ year experience in management or leadership.
- Familiarity with IP addressing, subnetting, and DNS.
- Must have or obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification within 120 days (e.g. Security+).
- Ability to support after-hours events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the MDA mission, systems, and networks.
- Knowledge of PIM, multicast, and Type I encryption devices.
- Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA certification.
- Experience with network monitoring tools.
- Experience with SolarWinds Orion.
- Experience with VMware virtual computing.
- Microsoft Visio proficiency.
- Understanding of lifecycle methodologies such as Systems Engineering and ITIL.
