Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our client in San Diego, CA. The Systems Engineer will lead systems design, development, and lifecycle engineering efforts in support of mission-critical, classified programs. This role works directly with end customers to plan deployments, create engineering artifacts, and guide system sustainment activities.
Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include:
· Lead the design, development, and documentation of complex systems and engineering artifacts
· Work directly with customer stakeholders to support implementation planning and technical execution
· Apply systems engineering principles across fielded system lifecycles to ensure program success
· Prepare detailed technical reports, briefings, and presentations for stakeholders
· Contribute engineering content and tutorials to product documentation
· Provide software sustainment leadership using configuration management controls and processes
· Stay current on emerging technologies including distributed databases, SDN, container orchestration, DevSecOps, and automated testing
Qualifications for the Systems Engineer include:
· Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related field
· 5+ years of experience applying engineering principles in operational environments
· Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, and Python
· Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex distributed systems (e.g., Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo, Spark, Kafka)
· Strong understanding of security concepts including SSH, PKI, certificates, TLS, and DoD/IC security policies
· Ability to work onsite in a classified facility at least 75% of the time
· Active TS/SCI and ability to pass a CI Polygraph within 6 months
· Ability to travel up to 25%
Compensation for the Systems Engineer includes:
· Salary Range: $150,000 - $190,000
