Koniag Technology Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an AWS Cloud Services SME to support KTS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is remote. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

The AWS Cloud Services SME serves as the primary cloud authority guiding delivery teams in the secure, compliant, and effective use of AWS GovCloud environments supporting USDA NRCS/FPAC mission applications.
This role combines functional leadership, governance oversight, and hands-on architecture and automation support. The AWS STL ensures cloud services are implemented consistently across teams while enabling modernization, automation, and operational excellence within an O&M-centered contract environment.

Responsibilities of the AWS Cloud Services SME:
The AWS Cloud Services SME will:
- Provide leadership for AWS GovCloud architecture and implementation practices
- Establish cloud governance guardrails aligned with USDA security and compliance expectations
- Guide teams in use of AWS services including S3, IAM, compute, networking, monitoring, and automation tooling
- Partner with Security & Compliance STL to ensure cloud implementations meet federal requirements
- Provide hands-on support for infrastructure automation using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Support operational optimization, cost awareness, and environment management
- Deliver reusable cloud reference architectures and standardized patterns across teams
- Enable integration of AI automation capabilities within compliant GovCloud environments
- Coordinate across multi-vendor stakeholders to ensure accountability and quality outcomes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of leadership experience in cloud services and architecture
- Three (3) or more years supporting federal IT programs of comparable size and complexity
- Proven success delivering secure cloud best practices in regulated environments
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty)
- USDA NRCS or similar agency experience preferred but not required
- Strong leadership and cross-team coordination skills
Skills of the AWS Cloud Services SME:
Desirable skills include:
- Deep expertise in AWS GovCloud service delivery
- Experience with cloud automation and DevSecOps integration
- Ability to provide both strategic governance and direct technical implementation
Security Requirement:
- Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.
