Duties

  • System Admin-Work involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systems
  • Operating Systems-Work involves the planning, installation, configuration, testing implementation and management of the systems environment in support of the organizations IT modeling and simulation architecture
  • Network Services-Work involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance and/or management of network systems used for the transmission of information
  • Data Management-Work involves the planning, development, implementation and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage and retrieval of data.
  • Customer Support-Work involves the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer requirements

  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • The employee may be recalled to duty and required to work overtime during other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays on an emergency basis.

  • This is a cybersecurity position within the DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF); the employee will be fully qualified in accordance with DoDD 8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain proper DCWF foundational qualifications may result in removal from this position.
  • This employee may be required to travel away from the normal duty station as-well-as may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A).

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled education or experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience: ability to administers the Cybersecurity Program while applying cybersecurity principles, methods and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality and accountability of information system resources and information processed throughout the system's life cycle.
.NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

OR

EDUCATION: Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures.
2. Knowledge of IT INFOSEC security requirements for certification and accreditation, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation, and performance management methods sufficient to implement and configure system /network compliance with security accreditation requirements.
3. Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques to implement protection of computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
4. Knowledge of a broad range of telecommunications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media, equipment, equipment configuration, and related software systems, processes and procedures to implement security accreditation requirements to counter vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g., espionage, disruption of services, destructive programs/applications) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
5. Ability to apply findings of assessments to mitigate IT security risks through the implementation of corrective actions. Ability to apply policies, principles, and IT security concepts sufficient to carry out activities leading to security C&A. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
