Due to federal security clearance requirements, the applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and uptime management for Oracle databases primarily on Windows with some Linux.
- Coordinate and execute installations, upgrades, updates, and patching in line with policies to minimize downtime.
- Monitor performance and tune databases and instances using metrics-driven analysis.
- Ensure data integrity and recoverability through appropriate solutions and robust backup and archive schedules.
- Implement and audit database security practices, remediate vulnerabilities, and conduct peer reviews.
- Serve as escalation point for database incidents, remove blockers, and coordinate timely resolution.
- Analyze problems from raw information and deliver well-reasoned technical solutions of moderate complexity.
- Plan and deliver database-related projects and milestones with site or team lead support.
- Develop, implement, and enforce DBA standards, policies, procedures, and configuration governance.
- Plan and implement database modernization initiatives and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and knowledge artifacts.
- Support development and analytics teams with schema design, SQL optimization, and implementation guidance.
- Independently manage full lifecycle DBA responsibilities and track assigned projects.

- Minimum 6 years of experience as a database administrator specializing in Oracle databases on Windows.
- Proficiency with core Oracle DBA functions including backups, recovery, security, and performance tuning.
- Experience performing installations, upgrades, and patch management for Oracle databases.
- Ability to monitor availability and maintain uptime across multiple systems.
- Demonstrated capability to implement and audit security best practices for Oracle databases.
- Experience supporting development and analytics with SQL troubleshooting and schema design.
- Strong organizational skills to manage independent workload and multiple projects.
- PL/SQL programming and troubleshooting (preferred).
- Experience with MS SQL Server and MySQL (preferred).
- Experience in a Federal Government environment (preferred).
