Finance Specialist

*Requir ed - US Citizenship / 2+ Years in Accounting*

Ensures the timely processing of payments and financial transactions, including payments, adjustments, returned checks, overpayments, etc., on the automated financial system.
  • Follows up on unidentified or other problem payment instruments.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial data as required.
  • Prepares routine and ad hoc reports.
  • Ensures that up-to-date and accurate records of inquiries are maintained and reported.
  • Maintains files, records, and chronologies of entry activities.
  • Reviews, analyzes and interprets legal documents (i.e. judgments and settlement agreements) as to the calculation of debt balances.
  • Ensures the monitoring and maintenance of database used for processing ACH (Automated Clearing House) payments.
  • Handles interfaces with various government accounting systems.
  • Analyzes financial reports, cost data, operating and project reports, etc. Assists with the training of new employees.
  • Assists with yearly audits (both financial and A-123 confirmation audits).
  • Handles complex transactions conducted for disbursements that affects the outcome of payments to payees
  • Overall QA responsibility for the overall process.
  • Answers inquiries by clarifying desired information; researching, locating, and providing information.
  • Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; escalating unresolved problems.
  • Fulfills requests by clarifying desired information; completing transactions; forwarding requests.
  • Maintains call center database by entering information and document customer interaction.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and knowledge management.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or two (2) years experience working in a similar environment is required
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles preferred.

  • Knowledge of Costpoint, Deltek, or other accounting software systems a plus

Job Requirements:

  • Verify product design and performance for adequacy, including reliability
  • Identify root cause or developing trends
  • Leading various structural and mechanical analyzes to support the design of a telescope mount and interfaces to other telescope components
  • Review incoming analysis to ensure highest quality and is in accordance with Client standards
  • Prepare monthly analysis for analytic meetings
  • Create new and improve existing standard work procedures
  • Prepare engineering input to riser layout and structural drawing
  • Determine feasibility of designing new structures or modifying existing structures considering costs, available space, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors
  • Participate in dynamic test planning and execution
  • Evaluate the structural integrity of composite and metallic launch vehicle structures
  • Determine structural adequacy for customer requirements and regulatory compliance; and to collaborate on structural design, manufacturing, and post-delivery of products Researches
  • Assemble and prepare design modification packages
  • Respond to assigned data tickets and work orders to ensure accurate data in the systems
  • Support all facility and company-wide goals, objectives and initiatives
  • Obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance
  • Oversee material characterization tests of various composite materials used in the design of rockets
  • Prepare and present financial data to management for review and decision making Research and analyze financial information necessary to support internal and external audit activity
  • Used in solid rocket propulsion
  • Perform structural analysis using FEA methods
  • Pull data from warehouse using Statistical Analysis System
