Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer (Systems Software) to support a mission-critical federal customer in the Chantilly, VA area. This role focuses on the design, development, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise web based applications and systems.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in Java and React development, Agile software delivery, cloud-based environments, and full lifecycle system support. This position requires close collaboration with stakeholders, developers, and operations teams to improve user experience, system quality, and delivery speed while reducing operations and maintenance (O&M) costs.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and modernize enterprise web-based applications, systems, and services.
• Architect solutions using modern techniques such as service-oriented and multi tier architectures.
• Develop and implement automated developer-level test scripts and instrumentation.
• Deliver software in small, incremental releases using Agile technical practices.
• Provide recommendations that improve UX/UI, reduce O&M, increase quality, and accelerate delivery.
• Analyze and document system components, interfaces, APIs, and database integrations to inform future development decisions.
• Develop web-based systems and services, including integrations with databases and web services/APIs.
• Operate and support applications hosted in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Support the full system accreditation lifecycle.
• Manage Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support using service management systems.
• Develop IT support documentation including SOPs, digital workflows, knowledge base articles, deployment checklists, system security plans, and architectural diagrams.
• Maintain enterprise software systems including patching, version upgrades, and license renewals (as applicable).
Mandatory Skills
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly
• Demonstrated experience utilizing Continuous Integration (CI) tools and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience designing and architecting modern systems (services, multi-tier architectures).
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing developer-level automated testing.
• Demonstrated experience delivering software using Agile methodologies and incremental development.
• Demonstrated experience implementing industry best practices aligned with accessibility standards.
• Demonstrated experience providing recommendations that support customer goals, including UX/UI improvements and system modernization.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and documenting web-based applications, services, and interfaces.
• Demonstrated experience developing web-based applications and services, including Java and React.
• Demonstrated professional experience operating within cloud infrastructures such as AWS.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the full accreditation lifecycle.
• Demonstrated experience managing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support operations.
• Demonstrated experience producing IT support documentation and system artifacts.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining enterprise software (patching, updates, license management).
