Summary

ValidaTek is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Image Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a large-scale enterprise endpoint migration from an on-premises Windows 11 environment to a Microsoft Intune-managed Azure AD environment. This role is highly hands-on and focused on implementing a wipe-and-reload device migration strategy using MECM/MCM task sequences, custom backup and recovery scripts, and automated registration in Intune.

The Image Management SME will play a critical role in image engineering, automation, application deployment, and migration execution, ensuring a consistent and repeatable onboarding experience across thousands of devices. In cases where automated deployment fails, the SME will support manual remediation and Autopilot-based enrollment to complete the migration.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the following areas:

• Lead and execute large-scale device reimaging and onboarding efforts.
• Design, maintain, and optimize MECM/MCM task sequences supporting wipe-and-reload migrations.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts for device backup, user data recovery, validation, and automated Intune registration.
• Integrate MECM/MCM imaging workflows with Azure AD join and Intune enrollment.
• Engineer and migrate applications for deployment during imaging and post-enrollment phases.
• Import, test, and deploy enterprise applications while minimizing end-user disruption.
• Support Autopilot and manual enrollment workflows as fallback mechanisms.
• Provide SME-level support during migration waves, cutovers, and post-migration stabilization.
• Troubleshoot complex imaging, enrollment, application deployment, and policy issues.
• Develop detailed technical documentation, imaging runbooks, rollback procedures, and operational guides.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, networking, and service desk teams.
• Track progress, risks, and issues associated with mass device migrations.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and repeatability of imaging and onboarding processes.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, with Top Secret eligibility
  • BS degree and 8+ years of Windows systems administration/engineering experience. Experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
  • CompTIA Security + CE or equivalent IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of enterprise endpoint management experience
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale device migrations
  • Strong hands-on experience with MECM/MCM, including:
    • Task sequences
    • OS deployment
    • Collections
    • Application deployments
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, recovery, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in integrating MECM/MCM with Intune and Azure AD
  • Strong understanding of Windows 11 imaging and provisioning workflows
  • Experience with Intune application lifecycle management
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex imaging and enrollment issues in high-volume environments
  • Understanding of DoD and DISA cybersecurity requirements
  • Must be able to commute onsite at least 3 days per week.

Preferred Skills:
  • DevSecOps software delivery model - Understanding of Agile methodology: CMMI, ITIL.
  • Microsoft certifications such as MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator Associate), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate), or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate effectively under tight timelines and high-volume workloads.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical processes to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable owning critical migration components.
