Kentro is seeking an experienced Personnel Security Manager with FSO qualifications to oversee the operations of our Personnel and Industrial Security Program. This role serves as the direct supervisor for our security team, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure full compliance with DoD, NISPOM, and contractual security requirements. The ideal candidate will proactively drive process improvements, lead security initiatives, and partner with internal stakeholders to maintain a strong security culture across the organization, including cleared contracts, public trust contracts, and corporate needs.

Location- Hybrid role with on-site work at multiple locations in the DC, MD, and VA area.

Ex: Ability to travel to various sites & HQs in McLean, VA. - As needed.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management
  • Serve as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) responsible for managing all facets of the Personnel Security Program, to include clearance processing, incident reporting, training, and continuous evaluation requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to security team members, including workload oversight, performance management, training, and day-to-day task delegation.
  • Own and manage the organization's security posture; lead audits, assessments, and security reviews to maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and improve security policies, SOPs, and workflows to enhance program efficiency and alignment with regulatory changes.
  • Mentor/Advise all Suitability & Clearance POCs across all contracts and at a corporate level.

Personnel Security Operations
  • Oversee processing and adjudication of personnel security actions in DISS, NISS, NCCS, and other government systems.
  • Engage proactively with DCSA, government security officials, and subcontractors to ensure seamless coordination and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with security vendors to support the operational needs of 200+ cleared personnel across multiple programs.
  • Ensure timely submission of reinvestigations, incident reports, foreign travel reporting, and visit requests.
  • Plan, schedule, and review all briefings and debriefings (initial, annual, derivative classification, insider threat, and foreign travel).
  • Manage work with the Security partner firm, and work towards full utilization of platform and support team
  • Develop a compliant program for tracking and monitoring all Public Trust Tiers without the use of a security partner platform.
  • Manage all reporting for clearances for Kentro, and joint ventures.

Industrial Security & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with NISPOM, DoDM 5105.21, contract-specific security requirements, DD254s, and customer directives.
  • Lead self-inspections, support government security reviews, and track corrective actions to resolution.
  • Coordinate with PMs, HR, Contracting, and senior leadership on security requirements for new awards or proposals.

Program Initiatives & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead new initiatives that improve security operations, strengthen compliance, or enhance employee awareness.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement automation or reporting improvements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on security risks, trends, and program optimization.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting Personnel Security within Government or Government contracting.
  • FSO certification, and 2+ years of experience as FSO (AFSO experience considered depending on the size of the team supported). Strong work experience in DISS/NBIS, NISS, NCCS, eApp, and related systems.
  • 5+ years managing personnel and advising on security processes
  • Bachelor's Degree. (4 additional years of experience with the Government Contracting industry will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting DoD or IC programs, in a cleared environment.
  • Familiarity with NISPOM, ICD requirements, government security compliance processes, CMMC compliance, and CUI initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with data/document management tools.
  • Strong understanding of Personnel Security, Industrial Security, and Insider Threat requirements.

Preferred:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with customers and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience working directly with DCSA and/or IC customers
  • Experience working on CMMC certification and levels

Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI and willing/able to pass CI polygraph.
