The Cyber Solutions Innovation Center is seeking a Distinguished Chief Engineer to help lead the direction of the division's cybersecurity technical capabilities. This individual will work with the Managing Director, Department Managers, and all division technical staff to advance development and application of leading-edge capabilities to architect and engineer safe, secure, resilient systems and to advance cyber technologies. This includes capabilities in cyber assessment; cyber resiliency; privacy; security automation and management; cyber strategy and policy; cloud security; cross-domain solutions; identity, credential, and access management (IC)AM; crypto and trust; software assurance; cyber safety; and cyber supply chain. These capabilities are applied to a range of end-to-end enterprise IT, cloud, mobile, and cyber-physical environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serving as a member of the Cyber Solutions senior leadership team and the MITRE Labs chief engineers to advocate for cyber technical capabilities and sponsor cyber needs and priorities, propose and advance new cross-cutting initiatives.
- Providing thought leadership and coordination in the division's capability areas while leading and participating in high-impact direct work efforts and corporate initiatives.
- Actively participating in high priority, high-profile senior-level reviews (e.g. Independent Technical Assessments)
- Developing a cohesive strategy for integrating and advancing the division capability areas and the visions of the capability area leads in alignment to sponsor needs.
- Synthesizing capabilities into effective sponsor solutions, collaborating with leadership and technical resources in other disciplines as appropriate.
- Developing a quality program for the division, including work shaping, quality engagement throughout tasks, product review.
- Ensuring quality of division work products, with responsibility and strategic planning for publicly released material and external communications, publications, and engagements.
- Mentoring division technical staff and helping to advance technical, organizational, operational, and communication skills.
- Serving as a division senior technical representative to outside stakeholders and senior government cybersecurity sponsors. Engaging with program divisions' executive teams, department managers, program/project leads, and sponsors to shape the work program to create opportunities to provide significant impact.
- Working with technical experts to establish and maintain the vision for the Innovation Center's labs, prioritizing the Innovation Center's lab and capital investment needs, and working with the MITRE Labs Chief Engineer for appropriate resourcing of these investments.
- Mentoring staff members on research problems/proposals and engaging with MITRE IR&D Research Project Leads on Innovation Center research needs and priorities.
- Serving as signature authority for public release and deliverables for high-impact, high visibility work efforts.
- Mentoring and coaching senior technical staff and providing performance input during the end-of-year review cycle.

- Serves as a technology transition champion, ensuring technical solutions and recommendations are transitioned to sponsors, academia, or industry to solve critical corporate or sponsor problems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 10 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
- Must be U.S. citizen with a TS clearance.
- Demonstrated expertise and thought leadership in the majority of the Innovation Center's capability areas. Deep expertise in the remainder of the division's technical capabilities.
- Demonstrated excitement for MITRE's values and its sponsors' missions.
- Experience advancing technology for the DoW, Intelligence Community, and public sector agencies in the Innovation Center's capability areas.
- Familiarity with relevant industrial community, conferences, and academic research. Experience with external publication and presentation is preferred.
- Candidates must hold a Top Secret clearance. An active SCI and a current (within 5 years) adjudicated polygraph are preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering or similar field.
- Candidate must have experience interacting effectively with staff at senior levels in government, industry, and academia, recognizing and following through on opportunities in new areas and/or with new MITRE customers.
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
